The Graduate Theological Union (GTU) is a consortium of nine independent theological schools and centers of research in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1857, the GTU is the largest and oldest graduate-level consortium of seminaries and theological studies in the United States. The GTU offers more than 70 degree programs and awards more than 550 degrees each year. The GTU is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).

The GTU is a community of scholars who engage in critical inquiry into religious and ethical issues from a variety of perspectives. The GTU community includes faculty, students, staff, and alumni from a wide range of religious traditions and backgrounds. The GTU is committed to academic excellence, social justice, and the promotion of interfaith understanding.
