Fairfield University is a private, Jesuit university in Fairfield, Connecticut. It was founded in 1942 by the Society of Jesus. Fairfield University is the second-oldest Jesuit university in New England behind Boston College. The university consists of five schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Engineering, the School of Nursing and Health Studies, and the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions. Fairfield University offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and nearly 30 graduate programs. The university is known for its rigorous academic programs, particularly in the sciences and engineering. Fairfield University is also a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

The Fairfield University campus is located on 200 acres of land in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut. The campus is situated just off of Interstate 95, about an hour's drive from New York City and about two hours from Boston. The campus is home to five academic buildings, four residence halls, two dining halls, a student center, a library, an athletic center, and a chapel.

Fairfield University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The university is also a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
