Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center (DMU-OMC) is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning located in Des Moines, Iowa. The university is committed to providing quality health care education and to serving the community through osteopathic medical care, research and service.

DMU-OMC was founded in 1898 as the Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy and Surgery. The college was established to provide quality medical care to the citizens of Des Moines and the surrounding communities. The college was the first osteopathic medical school in the state of Iowa and the third in the nation.

The college has a long tradition of excellence in medical education. DMU-OMC offers a four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree program. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for a career in the osteopathic medical profession.

In addition to the D.O. degree program, DMU-OMC offers a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (M.S.B.S.) degree program. The M.S.B.S. degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the biomedical sciences.

DMU-OMC is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). The D.O. degree program is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA-COCA).

DMU-OMC’s campus is located in the heart of Des Moines’ historic East Village. The university is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and businesses. The campus is also within easy driving distance of several state and national parks.

DMU-OMC is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM).
