Delaware State University is a public, coeducational university located in Dover, Delaware, United States. The university is one of four historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the state. Delaware State University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Founded in 1891, it is the second-oldest HBCU in the United States (after Lincoln University).

The university offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. The university's main campus covers over 200 acres (0.81 km2) and includes a variety of buildings, including 13 residence halls, two student centers, and a library. The university also has a satellite campus in Wilmington, Delaware.

Delaware State University is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the United Negro College Fund, and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. The university competes in NCAA Division I athletics and is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

The university was founded in 1891 as the State College for Colored Students. The school was renamed the Delaware State College in 1943 and became a land-grant institution in 1969. The school became a university in 1977.

The university has an enrollment of over 4,500 students, most of whom are African-American. The university's campus covers over 200 acres (0.81 km2) and includes 13 residence halls, two student centers, and a library.
