California State University-Northridge (CSUN) is a public university in the Northridge neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University (CSU) system. With over 38,000 students, it is the largest university in the CSU system and one of the largest universities in the state of California.

The university was founded in 1958 as the San Fernando Valley campus of the Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences. It became a part of the CSU system in 1972 and was renamed to its current name in 1974. The campus is situated on a 356-acre (1.4 km2) site in the northwest corner of the San Fernando Valley.

The university offers over 130 undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide variety of disciplines. The most popular majors at CSUN include Business Administration, Psychology, Biology, Nursing, and Social Work. The university is also home to the largest undergraduate film program in the United States.

CSUN is a highly diverse university, with students from all over the world. The student body is approximately 60% Hispanic, 20% White, 10% Asian, and 5% African American. The university also has a large international student population, with over 4,000 students from over 100 countries.

CSUN is ranked as one of the best value colleges in the country by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. The university was also named one of the "Most Ethnically Diverse Universities" by U.S. News & World Report.

The campus is served by the Los Angeles Metro Rail system, with two stations located on campus. The university is also located near several freeways, making it easy to get to from anywhere in the Los Angeles area.
