Admission Requirements
CUNY School of Law is committed to enrolling a diverse student body and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability. The Admissions Committee evaluates candidates on their academic credentials, professional achievements, and personal qualities.
CUNY School of Law requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school for admission. Candidates must also take and pass the New York State Bar Examination. In addition, CUNY School of Law requires all candidates to submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and a resume.
CUNY School of Law offers a three-year, full-time JD program and a four-year, part-time JD program. The full-time program is designed for students who can devote themselves exclusively to their studies. The part-time program is designed for students who wish to continue working full-time while attending law school.
CUNY School of Law's JD program is rigorous and demanding. In addition to taking required courses, students must also complete a substantial amount of independent research and writing. Students who successfully complete the JD program will be prepared to enter the legal profession and to make a positive contribution to the community.
