The Academy of Vocal Arts is a highly selective, independent vocal training institution located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is the only institution of its kind in the United States that offers a comprehensive training program for young opera singers. The Academy provides a unique opportunity for singers to receive individualized attention and instruction from some of the world’s leading vocal pedagogues. The Academy’s faculty is comprised of experienced professionals who have a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping each student reach his or her full potential as a singer.

The Academy’s training program is designed to prepare singers for successful careers in opera. The program includes private vocal coaching, language instruction, acting classes, and performance opportunities. Students also receive guidance on career development, audition preparation, and marketing themselves as professional singers. The Academy’s goal is to help each singer develop the skills and confidence necessary to pursue a career in opera.

The Academy of Vocal Arts was founded in 1934 by Dr. William Schuman, a renowned vocal pedagogue. Dr. Schuman’s vision was to create a training program that would provide young singers with the opportunity to receive the highest level of vocal instruction. The Academy has been true to its mission over the past eighty years, and has trained some of the world’s most successful opera singers. alumni of the Academy include Renee Fleming, Placido Domingo, and James Levine.
