Abilene Christian University (ACU) is a private, non-profit university affiliated with the Churches of Christ. It is located in Abilene, Texas, about 180 miles (290 km) west of Dallas. The university was founded in 1906, and its campus has an area of about 500 acres (2.0 km2). ACU has about 4,000 students, including about 2,000 graduate students. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and about 60 graduate programs.

ACU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The university's athletic teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and are known as the Wildcats. The university's colors are purple and gold, and its mascot is a wildcat named Willy.

ACU was founded in 1906 as the Childers Classical Institute by a group of Churches of Christ ministers and laymen. The school was renamed Abilene Christian College in 1919, and in 1925 it moved to its current location on a 500-acre (2.0 km2) campus. In 1957, the college became Abilene Christian University.

ACU is a private, non-profit university governed by a board of trustees. The university is divided into eight colleges: the College of Biblical Studies, the College of Business Administration, the College of Education and Human Services, the College of Fine Arts and Communications, the College of Liberal and Applied Arts, the College of Nursing, the College of Sciences, and the Graduate School.

The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and about 60 graduate programs. ACU's graduate programs include the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Education, the Master of Science in Nursing, and the Doctor of Education.

ACU's athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are known as the Wildcats. The university's colors are purple and gold, and its mascot is a wildcat named Willy. ACU fields teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

The university is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
